A Wife's Prayer

Where his he now?
The question is always there.
Is he lonely?
Do people really care?
He risks his life for strangers,
Never gets a smile,
But when they need him
He goes that extra mile.
He has feelings too, you know
Or do they ever think?
I set here worrying
Even if he's thirsty
Would they give him just a drink?
When the phone rings
And he's just a little late
All my fears come rushing.
I feel that I might faint.
They are his first concern you know.
No one thinks of that.
He can't think of me out there.
I'll tell you that's a fact.
He is their protector.
None other is his care.
Words that strip his dignity
Are more than he can bear.
Can't anyone take a little time for him
And pat him on the back?
Tell him he is appreciated?
And when it comes to character
He certainly doesnt lack.
Remind him when his coming home
To leave it all out there.
Here he has serenity,
And abundance of love and care.
Oh please God, look after him
When he goes out of my sight.
He's a highway patrolman
And I love him with all my might.
